The Versatile Variation – E PVC
Expanded PVC, a lightweight yet rigid foam polyvinyl chloride, proves to be durable and adaptable for various visual merchandising and signage needs. E-PVC, offered in an extensive range of colors, serves as an excellent substrate for digital and screen printing, painting, laminating, vinyl lettering, and shaping projects. Certain variants are even marine-grade or low-density, suitable for light-duty applications.
Furthermore, E-PVC can be easily sawed, drilled, bent, edge finished, and fabricated using common tools.
E PVC
Expanded PVC, also known as PVC foam boards or PVC foam sheets, is derived from foam polyvinyl chloride, despite its name suggesting it is made from typical foam.
This plastic-based material is renowned for its cost-effectiveness and ease of use. Manufactured through a suspension process involving polymerizing vinyl chloride in its monomer form, PVC foam sheets were initially produced by containing vinyl chloride in a tube and exposing it to sunlight, resulting in the solid white plastic we now recognize as expanded PVC.
Thanks to its thermoplastic properties, PVC softens at 149°F. Furthermore, it exhibits high resistance to moisture and certain chemicals, enhancing its versatility and expanding its range of practical applications.
Expanded PVC possesses similar properties to wood, metal, and aluminum, allowing it to be cut, machined, nailed, glued, and screwed with ease. Additionally, it can undergo digital and screen printing, painting, saw cutting, routing, die-cutting, and cold mounting techniques.
Notably, expanded PVC is renowned for its fire-resistant qualities, as it is inherently self-extinguishing due to its intrinsic flame-retardant nature. Given its versatility, PVC foam board finds a multitude of applications, including signage, store displays, cabinetry, wood replacement, and various home improvement projects.
